“Dear Mr. Malik,

This email is to notify you of the outcome of the hearing on 21st July 2025 at Slough Magistrates’ Court.

Following your decision to absent yourself from the courtroom, the Judge heard from the advocate for Thames Valley Police (TVP) and decided to rescind the order for the return of your phones which they made on 30th June 2025. This was done under the High Court case of ‘Liverpool City Council v Pleroma Distribution Ltd’ [2002] EWHC 2467 Admin on the ground that the Judge had initially acted under the misapprehension that your application under the Police Property Act 1897 (‘PPA’) had been properly served on TVP.

With the order set aside, the Judge considered the matter afresh and heard sworn evidence from the officer in the case. On the basis of this evidence, the Judge refused your application under the PPA.

For the avoidance of doubt, this means that there is now no longer a Magistrates’ Court order in place for TVP to return your phones. You must therefore liaise with the police regarding this.

Should you wish to review your options, you are encouraged to seek independent legal advice. This court can be of no further assistance in this matter.

We trust this clarifies the position.

Regards
